Masterson’s Lounge, nestled in the bustling area of Moonee Ponds , advertises itself as a stylish, alternative venue , but my recent visit at this establishment resulted in an experience I’d rather forget . While the bar may appear inviting from the outside , what I experienced behind its walls was shocking and unacceptable on multiple levels .
The State of Affairs: Grimy and Neglected
From the moment I entered , it was apparent that sanitation was not a priority at this venue. The floorboards were filthy, and a nauseating aroma of old alcohol and dirty bathrooms permeated the entire bar . Reeking of a mixture of urine , decay and sour vomit . The counter , which should be the focal point of any pub, was piled high with used mugs and litter that looked like it hadn’t been touched in ages . The toilet was in even a truly awful state— spilling over , with a shattered handle and walls covered in what I can only assume was feces.
It wasn’t just a single bad experience either.
